I recently watched an episode of Dr. Phil and he talked about the 5 steps that have to happen to attempt to fix a relationship when one person in a relationship does something so awful that it threatens the relationship itself (ie: J's drug addiction). The steps are:
1. Hear what the other person says about how they have been hurt, wronged, etc. and how they feel
2. Acknowledge what the other person says.
3. Own what has been done
4. Apologize for what has been done
5. Make real, concrete steps to correct the situation
Let's examine where J and I are at.
